Problems with mailchimp - related to SFC

Hi SFC,

We've been having problems with mailchimp where people are being automatically unsubscribed. Are any of your other clients running into this? I've been going back and forth with mailchimp for a while now, and they think that it is something to do with our API and I'm assuming that is something to do with SFC. I have copied and pasted the email below.

Do you have any suggestions on this issue. Should we disable our mailchimp account from our SFC account? I think that would make for a lot more problems.

Heya Emma,

Sorry for the previous confusion. We took a look through your account, and it seems like most of the users who were unsusbcribed were originally added via the API. Additionally, there is some API activity in your account, so there's a definitely possiblity that whatever app is connect to MailChimp is what's causing these people to become unsubscribed. We recommend disabling the API key or the connected app, and seeing if the issue continues to happen or not.

    Hi Emma,

    Hm, no problems have been reported lately on this. Did you create a completely fresh list for the MailChimp sync? It sounds like you may have connected SFC to a list that already had subscribers in it on Mailchimp. The sync will only work if the only you use that list for is to sync between SFC and Mailchimp.

    Hi Simon,

    Thanks for checking in!

    For some reason about 5% of our members just keep getting unsubscribed. We
    only added people to the list through mailchimp after they'd already been
    unsubscribed, so I don't think its a syncing issue between the two forms.

    We've decided to use the emailing option through SFC for important
    information about pickups, etc., and use the mailchimp just for the
    website-driven RSS feed.

    Unfortunately, the 5% won't get these updates but we've let them know the
    situation, and given them instructions on how to sign up for RSS updates to
    the website themselves. Q Roth is helping us put in one of those orange RSS
    buttons.
