remove member but not membership?

Hi Simon et al,
What is the best way to remove a member from all future emails, but not remove their membership? I'd like to keep the memberships from previous seasons intact.

    Hi Beth,

    "Disabling" their membership will do exactly that.

    Simon,
    I read your support article Cancelling a Membership and it says "Note: Even if you delete or disable a Membership, the Members associated with that Membership will still remain as Users and will still be linked to User Groups. This way, you can still keep their contact information for sending general emails and keep them connected to your farm."

    I took that to mean that a disabled member will still receive emails sent through the renewals page (MA/members/renewals).

    We should clarify that on that page, then. I'll look at it.

    After you disable the membership, they will not get renewal messages or any
    emails sent via the MA functions.

    You could still reach them using the non-M/A mailing list tools:
    Connect / mailing list / send mail
    & that is what the help file is explaining, but I can see that it is
    unclear.

    OK, I disabled the membership. I notice that the member is still part of the user group "Oregon - 2012 Tipi Produce CSA." Do I need to un-check that so they don't get emails via the renewals page (MA/members/renewals)?

    No, the renewal page will create a new user group for you and while it is
    doing that, it filters out all "disabled" members.
