Changing Members Email

I am trying to change a members email but when I press the submit button it says "Failure. The email you changed this user to already exist in your records. Please try again."

I then deleted this persons old account so the email would not be on record but that did not work. How can I successfully change this email?

    Hi Taryn:

    When you say that you deleted their "old account", do you mean an old membership or the user account itself? If you delete a membership, it doesn't delete the individual user accounts associated with it in the database. So you would need to go and delete that too.

    Go to - Administrate --> Users --> Manage Users and look them up there. You should see the users that were associated with that deleted membership. You can then delete those user accounts and then you should be able to go in and adjust the email address on the new membership.
