Adding additional shares to a membership

I have two families splitting a Regular Season Full Share but they both would like to receive an Early Greens Share and an October Share. Is there a way I can update their invoice to show 1 Regular Season Share, 2 Early Greens Shares and 2 October shares?

Thanks for all of your help,

    Hi Ben,

I believe the best way to handle this would be to have each family sign up separately. One family would sign up for the Regular Season Full Share (and not include the info/email of the other family in the signup), their early green share & their october share. Then the other family could sign up for their early green share and their october share. The families could then coordinate, on their own, the splitting of the money & the share.

I'm going to pass this on to Mike, to see if he has any other solution...he's currently out of the office, but can touch base with you on Monday.

    Hi Ben,

Shannon's idea would work, but there is a programmatic way to handle this too.

Right now there is not a way to put quantities on share types. What you can do, however is create a new option under both Early Greens and October shares (Configure > Member Types) called "Double Early Greens," "Double October Share" that have twice the price of the single shares. Then in the Member details, under the Types tab, you can change their types for the season to those Double Shares. Your invoice will adjust automatically. Then you can also disable those options in Configure > Member Types so they won't be visible to the public.

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for the suggestion. I just did it and it worked just great! Will
Member Assembler eventually have the option for CSA members to put
quantities on share types? I know in the past I have had members who have
wanted to pay for an extra share or two and then donate them to a
lower-income family! Using your suggestion I can make it work now, but I
think this would be a great function (adding quantities on share types) for
    Member Assembler to have.

    Thanks for all your work,

    Hi Ben,

Developing quantities for shares is something we talk about once in a
while. It would require a pretty big breakdown and rebuild of the code to
make that work, so we've mostly decided to kick that down the road until we
are sure we can do it without messing with what already works.

For the donated share idea, there are a lot of farms that do that now. I
wouldn't suggest wrapping it into what shares a member signs up for
themselves though. Most people just have an additional Share Type called
something like "Donated Share" and then you could have a couple options in
that for one family, two families, etc. Then your regular deliveries still
stay with information just for them.
